Travel Distribution and Operations Platform Advanced Product Under Active Development

TravelNova

TravelNova Group is an advanced product under active development. It is being designed as a unified travel distribution and operations platform connecting customers, approved travel agencies and internal teams through one controlled ecosystem.

My Role

Product architect and full-stack developer

Purpose

Unified B2B and B2C travel platform for managing discovery, quotation, booking, payment, documentation, fulfilment and financial reporting.

Business Problem

Why this product exists.

Travel operators often manage inventory, customer inquiries, agency quotations, payments, documents, operational fulfilment and financial tracking across disconnected spreadsheets, messages, PDFs and manual records. This creates slow booking workflows, weak visibility, inconsistent pricing and avoidable operational risk.

Objectives

What the system is designed to achieve.

Create one controlled travel-service platform for public customers, approved agencies and TravelNova internal teams.

Support B2C discovery and direct booking workflows for flights, hotels, holidays, Umrah, Hajj, visas, transfers, insurance and study travel.

Support B2B agency workflows for protected pricing, quotations, bookings, wallets, credit facilities, deposits, documents and statements.

Give management visibility into inventory, agency activity, outstanding balances, booking performance, operations and financial reporting.

Keep supplier records as internal inventory and operational controls, not as an open supplier marketplace.

Clearly separate active development foundations from production launch requirements.

System Architecture

How the product is structured.

Frontend

React supports separate public marketplace, customer portal, agency portal and super-admin portal experiences.

Backend

Laravel API provides the business layer for inventory, agencies, customers, bookings, quotations, payments, operations, finance and reporting.

Authentication

Public visitors can browse services, while customers, agencies and internal users access protected portal areas.

Authorization

Role and account scoping separates customer data, approved agency access and TravelNova internal administration.

Database

MySQL stores travel services, rates, availability, agencies, customers, travellers, bookings, quotations, wallets, invoices, receipts, refunds, documents and operational records.

Business Logic

Core logic centers on TravelNova-controlled inventory, B2C booking, B2B quotation, agency wallet/credit handling, fulfilment workflows and financial reporting.

API Layer

The platform is structured API-first for portal frontends and future payment, airline, hotel, supplier and notification integrations.

Technology Stack

Why each technology was selected.

Laravel API

Selected to centralize validation, authorization, service workflows, booking operations and financial rules behind a maintainable backend.

React

Selected for multi-portal interfaces where search, quotation, booking and admin workflows need interactive state.

MySQL

Selected for relational travel data such as services, agencies, customers, travellers, bookings, payments, documents and financial ledgers.

Integration-ready architecture

Used so live payment gateways, airline suppliers, hotel suppliers, notifications and external APIs can be introduced after certification and production readiness work.

Database Design

Important entities and relationships.

Travel services cover flights, hotels, holidays, Umrah, Hajj, visas, transfers, insurance and study travel.

Agencies connect to protected B2B pricing, quotations, bookings, wallet activity, credit limits, deposits, invoices and statements.

Customers connect to direct bookings, traveller records, documents, payments, notifications and booking progress.

Bookings connect selected services, travellers, payment records, vouchers, operational tasks and fulfilment status.

Supplier records support internal inventory and operations management while TravelNova controls what is published and sold.

Finance records support deposits, credit usage, invoices, receipts, refunds, balances and reporting.

Modules are grouped by business responsibility so the product remains understandable and easier to extend.

Security

Security decisions are part of the product design.

Authentication

Protected portal access is required for customers, approved agencies and internal TravelNova teams.

Authorization

Role-based access separates public visitors, customers, agencies, agency staff, operations users, finance users and super administrators.

Validation

Server-side validation protects traveller details, quotation requests, booking records, payments, wallet activity, documents and operational updates.

Data protection

Commercial rates, customer documents, financial balances and agency statements require controlled access and audit-friendly handling.

Tenant isolation

Agency data is scoped to approved agency accounts so one agency cannot access another agency's bookings, wallet, credit or statements.

Engineering Challenges

Problems that shaped the technical decisions.

Designing four separate experiences without fragmenting the core travel-service data model.

Balancing B2C simplicity with B2B quotation, wallet, credit and statement workflows.

Keeping financial records, booking status and operational fulfilment auditable.

Avoiding an open supplier-marketplace assumption when suppliers are currently internal inventory and operations records.

Separating completed foundations from work still required before public production launch.

Screenshots

Product interface evidence.

TravelNova is under active development. Approved public screenshots can be added when the interface and client-facing content are cleared for portfolio use.

No public screenshots yet.

Public visuals will be added when authentic product screenshots are available.

Technical Achievements

Defined a unified B2B and B2C travel distribution and operations model.

Mapped public marketplace, customer portal, agency portal and super-admin responsibilities.

Structured the product around TravelNova-controlled inventory, distribution, booking, fulfilment and financial visibility.

Planned agency quotation, wallet, credit, document and account statement workflows.

Selected an API-first Laravel and React architecture for long-term portal scalability.

Completed

Product concept and architecture planning.

Module breakdown for public marketplace, customer portal, agency portal and super-admin portal.

Foundations for inventory, agencies, quotations, bookings, operations, finance, reports, notifications and integration preparation.

Future Roadmap

Production deployment and hosting hardening.

Real payment gateway integration and webhook handling.

Live airline, hotel and supplier API integrations after certification.

Security auditing, load testing and operational acceptance testing.

Final browser-based UAT across public, customer, agency and admin portals.

Production monitoring, backups, analytics and support documentation.
